Hosted by Gaydio’s Emma Goswell, this is your chance to meet and quiz the candidates looking to take on the top job as part of one of the biggest changes to local government in Greater Manchester in decades.
It’s your chance to see where they stand on the issues that matter to you, from tackling the housing shortage to what it means for local businesses.
Greater Manchester is one of the combined authorities that will be electing a metro mayor on 4 May 2017 as part of the Government’s plans to allow these authorities to take on an increased number of functions.
The new Mayor will be directly elected by people across Greater Manchester. They will lead and work with other local authority leaders to set out the strategy for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority which will have a greater say on a range of key areas.
Currently these will include:
• transport
• planning
• housing
• regeneration
• training and skills
• local business support,
• police
• fire service; and
• economic growth
